There was never a question in my mind about what I would be when I grew up. Watching my father tattoo and spending time in his studio solidified the decision that I, too, would be a tattoo artist.
I worked towards this goal for most of his early life. The kid in class that was constantly drawing and at 18 was given a tattoo set up by a family friend. I worked hard and secured an apprenticeship at a respectable local studio, where I stayed for a couple of years before moving my way up the country and acquiring a young family along the way.
Since then, I've won countless awards and recognition for my realistic tattooing style. I have also been fortunate enough to travel internationally to showcase my art and work alongside some amazing international artists.
In 2013, I opened my studio, Ship Shape Tattoo, in Auckland, which has since grown to a busy 10-artist studio and has become the infamous hub of realistic tattooing in New Zealand.
